Caught In The Crowd - Chapter 12: Hide And Sick, huh?

Hi ladies! First of all, I wanna say that I adore you so much<3 You are so damn amazing! Please never leave me. I really enjoy reading ALL your comments... like I always have a big smile when I read them. Seriously. And second, I wanna apologize because the last chapter was a bit short so... sorry :'( And as I promise, this is a longer chapter... so enjoy ladies!

After about half an hour of looking, someone little crashed into my leg. I looked down to see Jazmyn hugging my leg tightly. She looked up at me and smiled, the top of her head barely reaching my grey school skirt. With a small giggle, she tightened her arms around my leg. 

"Hey (YN)." She grinned.

I sighed in relief, at least she was okay. "Hi Jazz. Whatcha doing out here?" I asked, looking around.

This isn't really the sort of place for a four year old girl to be hanging around without anyone with her. But that's Justin's fault, he didn't watch her.

She giggled. "Hiding from Justin."

"Did you run off on your brother?" I asked, brushing her hair out of her eyes. Maybe it wasn't his fault.

She shook her head. "No. We play hide and seek."

"And he's it?" I predicted.

"Ya. He hasn't found me yet." She smirked.

I smiled and nodded. "Okay, come on. Let's go rub it in that you won." I told her, holding my hand out to her.

She grabbed two of my fingers and began walking along beside me.

"Is your brother with Selena?" I asked, wanting to know if he was lying before to get rid of me or something.

She nodded. "Yeah, he was with her when we started playing."

"Okay sweetheart." I sighed, brushing my hair out of my face.

"You pretty, (YN). Justin likes you a lot. Daddy and Pattie think he should fall in love with you." She smiled and started to skip.

"Did they say why?" I asked. Well if Justin wouldn't tell me what they were on about, then I'd get Jazmyn to tell me.

"They think you beautiful. They said you were real too, but I don't know what that means. Daddy said that it was hard to explain." She said smiling, holding out her hand so she could feel small raindrops fall into her palm, just like I had done before.

They said I was real? What on earth is that supposed to mean?

"Why didn't Justin find me?" She questioned suddenly, cutting off my thoughts.

"I'm not sure, Jazz." I sighed.

Jazmyn looked at me sadly, tears forming at the corner of her eyes. "Doesn't Justin like playing with me?"

My heart lurched and I scooped her off the ground. "Aww, Jazzy, that's not it. He loves playing with you."

"Then why didn't he come find me?" She asked, sounding as if she were about to cry.

"Maybe your hiding spot was too good and he just couldn't find you." I suggested.

"But Selena, was helping him. He could have found me." She said, snuggling closer to my blue school jumper.

I didn't reply. What could I possibly say? 'Your brother was probably too caught up making out with his girlfriend to remember he was meant to be playing with you'. Yeah, sure, that would go down wonderfully.

Eventually, she dozed off with her head rested against my shoulder. I pulled out my phone and texted Pattie, notifying her that I found had found Jazmyn and Justin was with Selena. She called me instantly.

"(YN), I can never thank you enough." She gushed. "Why was Justin not with Jazmyn?" She demanded.

"I'm not sure. Jazmyn said that they were playing hide and seek and Justin was meant to be searching for her. I called him; he didn't answer when I asked where Jazmyn was and he said he was with Selena. I found Jazmyn pretty soon after you called, so she probably wasn't on her own for a huge amount of time." I explained, not really sure why I was defending Justin or Selena. Selena was never nice to me and Justin was plain stupid.

"Hmm…" She mumbled unhappily. "I'll get Kenny to come get her."

"I can bring her back." I offered because I really didn't want to go to school.

"No, couldn't possibly let you…" She started.

"I'm not offering anymore. I'm making a statement. We shouldn't be that long." I said and then hung up, ignoring all calls that she made to my phone.

I still couldn't believe that Justin would simply leave her and use hide and seek as an excuse to be with Selena. But in some form, it didn't really surprise me.
