"Amen." we all said simultaneously after saying prayers.
I sat across from Justin, my dad across from my mom. We ate our food in silence and I felt as if there was tension from our earlier incident. Of course that was not acceptable with my dad, he as probably never going to get over it.
"So how have you guys been?" I asked my parents.
"We've been great honey! Not much has changed around here." my mom said quietly as she peered over to my dad.
"How was your birthday?" she asked with a friendly smile.
"It was fun! Justin planned the whole thing and invited all of our friends. We had dinner and I danced until I passed out. I had a lovely time, thanks to Justin." I said with a laugh.
I watched as my dad eyed down Justin. I felt so awkward, I didn't know what he thought of Justin, and I wasn't sure that I wanted to. And what my mom said 'not much ahs changed around here', could it be true? I didn't want to believe it, but I had to find out.
"So, Mr. Justin Bieber, how long have you been dating my daughter?" my dad asked in a stern voice.
"It was a year ago September 13th, sir."
"He got me this necklace for our anniversary." I said, pointing to my chain and trying to take away from my dad staring at Justin.
"That's very pretty." my mom commented.
I sent her a smile. At least she didn't mind me and Justin dating or being together at all. My dad on the other hand, didn't even want us in the same room.
After we all finished, my mom and I took the dishes in the kitchen, leaving Justin and my dad alone. I was concerned about what might happen, between them while we were gone.
I stood, loading the dishwasher while my mom washed some pots and pans by hand. I finished loading them and stood by my mom, watching her hands swirl around in the water.
"Does he still hurt you?" I asked quietly.
I looked to make sure my dad wasn't watching before turning my attention back to my mom. She was dead silent, like she was mesmerized by the motion of the water. I grabbed her arm and she jumped.
"Mom, answer me." I said, teary eyed already.
"I-It's nothing-"
"Mom tell me."
"He does it because he loves me." she said quickly.
I couldn't believe that she said that. It was like he was controlling her and she had no choice. I wanted to shake here and yell that this wasn't right, but I knew that I couldn't. I couldn't even get her out of the house to talk to her.
"Mom you need to get away from him. That's not true, you need to stop-"
"It is true!" my mom pleaded, with tears in her eyes.
I held her in my arms and cried with her. She couldn't even hold her weight in my arms, so I sat her down at the island counter. I needed to get her away from here, I had to try at least. I wiped away her tears and mine.
"Mom, please, pull yourself together."
She stopped crying and I brought her back to the dining room. We adjourned our dinner and went our separate ways. I watched when my dad left the room, he whispered something in Justin's ear. My dad went back to watching football, and I went upstairs with Justin.
*JUSTIN'S P.O.V.*
(YN) and her mom started taking the dishes to the kitchen while her dad and I sat there. When they left the room, I felt so much hatred hanging in the air. This guy sitting next to me was evil, and I wasn't aloud to stop it. Plus, he hated my guts, without even knowing me. I mean a lot of people did, but this guy, he was bad news.
"Ya know, Justin, I don't like you." he said.
Yep, there it was. I gave him a funny look. Like I said, he didn't even know me, and he already hated me. Great.
"I'm sorry to hear that." I said, trying to keep the sarcasm away from my voice.
I wanted so badly to just freak out on him, but I knew that that wouldn't go over well.
"I don't like you with my daughter. The whole upstairs incident, if it happens again, I'm not going to be to happy. And I'm sure you know how this works."
"I love your daughter, and I would never do anything to hurt her." I said, now staring deeply into his strict eyes.
"Listen, it's best you stay away from her after Thanksgiving's over-"
"You don't mean stay away from (YN)."
"That's exactly what I mean."
I took a deep breath. I was trying not to explode on this guy, containing my anger was becoming very difficult at the moment.
"Look, your daughter means the world to me. And I solemnly promise that I will keep her safe. I have for a year and I plan to do it for many more." I said just as (YN) and her mom came bursting through the kitchen door. They both had smiles on their faces. I leaned back in my chair and watched as her dad stood and began to exit the room.
"Remember what I said. It's better for the both of you, and I'm sure you wouldn't like the consequences." he whispered in my ear before leaving the room.
Great, I think her dad just threatened to kill me. This was not my night...
