Chapter 9:
May 8th, 2017
4:00pm

(Justin’s POV)

I paced the floors in my hotel and waited. I was waiting for the call from (YN), telling me that she had landed safely in Canada. I knew that it was coming, it could be any time now. Maybe I should just call myself; I mean I could just use the hotel’s phone. Yeah, okay, I’d do that. I strode over to the phone, but then I thought about it. This place is so rigged, I better not. I’ll just go back to this guy and turn myself in, instead of my family. As long as they were safe, I’d be fine.
As I drove along the highway, I tried to hold myself together. I wasn’t going to let him hurt my family; I’d rather have him hurt me. It was all because of this dumb decision I made. Why did I have to get myself in so much trouble?
“Justin, are you sure that you want to do this? It’s a big decision man.” Twist informed me.
“Bro, its fine. It’s not like anything will happen.”
I wrote my name in fine print on the bottom of the sheet of paper. What harm could it do? It’s not like this guy was asking for anything from me. He just wanted me to sign up for something, right? I couldn’t even remember, but it’s not like it matters.
When I sobered up, I had the hugest headache ever. I couldn’t even think straight because my head was pounding. I stood up slowly, regaining my balance and looking around. Twist walked in the room with some water and handing me a glass. I thanked him and we sat back down together.
“Dude, what happened?” I asked as I rubbed my temples.
“I don’t know, why don’t you ask the gang that you signed your life over to?”
I stared at him like he was crazy. I just laughed, because that never happened. I don’t recall anyone ever being here besides me and Twist.
“I’m serious,” he continued, “you signed a paper with them. I have no idea what it was about, but you might want to find out before you get yourself killed.”
“Come on man, it couldn’t have been that bad.”
“I’m gonna go. Some friendly advice from me is to call them and tell them that it was a mistake or something. I’m telling you like I said before, you’ll get yourself killed.”
He walked out of my house without turning back. I started taking his words more seriously. What happened? I immediately called them number and talked to the people. They said that it’d be more confidential to talk in person, and when they came back over, I found out what really happened while I was messed up.
“I wasn't sober; you can’t hold that against me.” I begged.
“Justin, I’m telling you now and only once, this is serious business. You owe us now, and you can’t do anything about it. You’ve been warned. We may come at the most random times, but when we do, we’ll get what we want. We wont forget about you. And what we want may never just be money, keep that in mind.”
Just as he finished his sentence, (YN) got home. I could hear her voice echoing throughout the empty house. She walked into the living room and saw me. She just stared and looked from me, to them. I wasn’t sure how to approach this now that she was back, but I knew that she’d have questions.
“I’ll find a way.”
They glared at me before turning and leaving. I moved my attention back to (YN) who was now standing just inches away from me. I didn’t comprehend anything she said until we finally sat down. I finally got my thoughts together as she asked the only question I was avoiding.
“Justin, what did you do?”
I arrived at the building and headed upstairs using the elevator. When I got to his office, I had to squeeze past the bulky guards in front of the door. God, they were so annoying about how they handled everything. Look, I wasn’t going to kill the guy, calm the fuck down. I’m just trying to get him to take my life instead, seriously.
“You’re back.” He said.
He looked up at me and smirked.
“Look, I know that I have to repay you somehow and I can’t have my family hurt, so can you just take my life instead?” I begged.
“Woah there Mr. Bieber. You won’t have to be giving me anything anymore; I’ve got everything that I want already.”
I looked at him like he was crazy. Was he dropping the deal? I felt joy inside, but I didn’t show it on the outside. I knew that if I did, it’d make me look weak.
“Let her explain.” He said.
He handed me a phone and I slowly moved it up to my ear after taking it in my hand. I listened to it ring, and after sometime, my mom answered. Wait, my mom?
“Mom?” I asked.
“Justin? Justin! Finally we’re hearing from you, where are you? And has (YN) found you yet?” she said frantically.
I could feel tears in my eyes but I blinked them away. (YN) never went with to Canada. As I pieced it all together in my head, I had to be held back once more from hitting this guy. He had (YN). But how? She should’ve gotten away with my mom perfectly fine. I dropped the phone after hearing my moms words and immediately started yelling.
“How did you find her!? Where the fuck are you keeping her?” I yelled.
“Find her? Oh Justin, I didn’t need to find her. She came to me.”
My heart sank and I stared at this guy with anger. Why would she come to him? I warned her plenty of times before about how dangerous this guy is! She should’ve never come here; she should’ve never had to put up with any of this in the first place. It was my entire fault.
“Please, just let her go.” I begged.
“She doesn’t want to be let go, Justin. She offered her life, instead of your kids, and I’m afraid that a deals a deal, and that’s it.”
“H-How long does she have?” I stuttered.
“I’ve given her a week, no more than that unless necessary. Take him to her.”
I closed my eyes to get rid of the tears. The guards let go of my arms and escorted me out of the room. Just before they closed the door, the man began to speak again.
“Oh, and Justin, you can take her home for now.”
At least this guy had some kindness left in his soul. I had to be blindfolded, so that I didn’t know exactly where they were taking me, but after some time, I knew we were there. They took the blindfold off and I saw (YN) standing by a window, staring out into the bland field. We were at a house now, somewhere out in the country obviously.
“(YN)?” my voice cracked.
She turned around slowly. Our eyes met and right away, I could see the tears in her beautiful eyes. She ran into my arms and I held her tightly against my chest. I could feel her tears soak up in my shirt, and I just wiped mine away.
“Justin, I’m so sorry. I had to do something.” She pleaded.
“Baby, you didn’t. I never wanted anything to happen to you, I’m so sorry.”
She sniffled and pulled away. I weakly smiled at her and she did the same back. This was the hardest thing in my life, seeing her so broken down like this. And it was even harder knowing that it was all because of me.

(Your POV)

The guards drove us home and I laid in Justin’s arms as we laid together in our bed. I never wanted to get up, or leave, but I knew that in just 7 short days, I’d never do this again. I swallowed hard and looked up at Justin. He was sound asleep; the crying from us both must’ve tired him out. I smiled, just seeing him at such a peaceful state. He was so handsome. I was just glad that I got the opportunity for such an amazing short life.
I slipped out of Justin’s arms quietly and headed downstairs. The twins were heading home tonight, so it’d just be us four for the next week. I decided to make a nice, late, 11:00pm dinner. I knew that the twins would go straight to sleep, but I figured that Justin would stay awake after they got home.
When I finished cooking, I just let everything cool down while I answered the door. As soon as I opened the door, the twins ran and hugged my legs. I smiled and laughed as they chanted ‘Mommy!’.
“Guess what?” I said kneeling down, “Mommy has a surprise for you two, come on.”
I bent down and grabbed both of their hands, leaving their bags down stairs by the door. We walked upstairs slowly and I told them both to be quiet as we entered mine and Justin’s room. I picked both of them up and let them stand on the foot of the bed.
“Ready?” I whispered getting nods in return.
“Daddy!” They both yelled simultaneously as they jumped on Justin.
I laughed and Justin slowly opened his eyes. He smiled widely and grabbed the both of them, tackling them with hugs and kisses. I thought that it was adorable how they acted when they saw him.
“I missed you guys!” Justin said.
He kissed both of their cheeks before getting out of bed and standing next to me. We put the kids to bed together, even though we barely got them to sleep. They were so antsy and jumpy!
“I have a surprise for you.” I said to Justin as I took his hand in mine.
“What is it?”
“You’ll see.”
I took him downstairs and made him close his eyes while I lead him to his seat. I helped him sit down, still with his eyes closed, and the look on his face was priceless. I found my spot across the table and sat down before laughing at Justin.
“Well, we are at the dinner table.” Justin implied.
“Just open your eyes silly.”
He opened his eyes and looked across the table to me before looking at the food that I had set out. For some odd reason, Justin was obsessed with my freaking spaghetti. It was so simple to make, yet he loved it. So that’s what I made, and he was obviously happy.
“You made my favorite!” he quietly yelled.
“I knew you’d like it.”
We ate while just talking about the simple things. I couldn’t exactly tell him about the twins’ birthday party, seeing they weren’t even there and neither was I. We just talked about memories and brought up random stories from our past.
When we finished eating, we washed the dishes together and then went upstairs to our bed. I laid in Justin’s arms yet again, thinking. It was hard to just lay there and act like everything was okay, when we both knew that it wasn’t. Justin could sense my stress, and I knew that because he spoke up about it.
“Baby, just try not to think about it. I know it sounds impossible, but just think, the twins turned three today, our babies are getting so old.”
I smiled, but my smile faded into tears. Our babies turned three, and I’d never live to see another one of their birthdays. It broke my heart, and I had no clue what we could possibly tell them after I was gone. They’d cry and whine for weeks, heck, maybe even months.
“Why are you crying?” Justin asked worriedly.
“I-I’ll never get to see another one of their b-birthdays.” I stuttered.
Justin took a deep shaky breath and held me closer to his chest. I tried my best to hold in my tears, but knowing that this was my last week, was too much to handle.
