Chapter 5:
May 8th, 2015
4:00pm

“This is really nice, I love shopping with you!” I said to Pattie.
We sat down at a table in Caribou and waited for our drinks. The doctor here in Canada kept persuading me to walk around a lot now that I was due in a week. He said that it’d make the whole process of birth easier. I just wanted these babies out of me, NOW. Ugh they weighed so much and my back hurt and I hadn’t seen Justin in a month. The only good thing was that we Skyped every night and talked on the phone. My pregnancy was luckily going as planned, and only one more week until I got to see my babies.
“Here, I’ll go grab our drinks.” Pattie said as she stepped down from her stool.
I smiled and grabbed my phone to check it. Nothing from Justin yet. He said that he’d call me as soon as he landed in Michigan for his concert. Michigan was really close to Stratford actually, only like a 5 hour drive for Justin’s tour bus. He was going to come here tomorrow night after his second concert there. The doctor said that I could go any day now, just hopefully not today.
“Where do you want to go now?” Pattie said as she held the door open for me.
We both walked out of Caribou and down the street. We’d been shopping since 9:00am this morning and my feet hurt even more than usual.
“Maybe, Victoria’s Secret for a little while more?” I smiled.
“Alright.”
She smiled and we headed towards Victoria’s Secret. It was a decent walk, but I needed to make sure I walked a lot and exercised. It was nice, and the only thing that stopped me was a few fans. They walked up to me with huge smiles on their faces while bouncing around excitedly.
“Are you really (YN) (YLN) and Pattie Mallette?” one of them asked.
“That’s us.” I looked at Pattie who was smiling along with me.
“Can we take a picture with you?” they begged.
“Sure!”
We took a few pictures together; some of them funny and some of them just smiling. One girl asked to feel my stomach and I gladly let her; I really felt flattered when people asked. When she put her hands on my stomach the babies kicked too, I guess it was a treat for the both of us. She was so excited to just have seen me, she looked as if she was going to faint.
I talked to them for a few more minutes and listened to their stories about how they tried meeting me before and everything. They were all so funny and nervous, it was cute. I was about to take one last picture with another girl, but that didn’t exactly work out the way I planned because I had to stop and grab her shoulder. I bent over slightly and held my stomach. I felt slight pain, it wasn’t that big, but it hurt me to the point where I couldn’t walk.
“Are you okay?” Pattie asked frantically.
“I don’t think we’re gonna make it to Victoria’s Secret.” I breathed.
“Let’s get you home.” She rushed.
Luckily the car wasn’t far from there. The girl that I grabbed when I bent over helped me walk over to the car and I thanked her greatly. Pattie helped me in and ran to the other side and we drove quickly to the hospital. Obviously my contractions had started, and I could go into labor at any point in time tonight. I was scared, and Pattie was too. I needed Justin though, and he wasn’t answering any of my calls or Pattie’s. He must’ve started his concert and forgot about calling me before. That was weird, because he’d never done that before.
We arrived at the house Pattie helped me inside. I couldn’t go to the doctor until my contractions were 5 minutes apart, so I wouldn’t know until later if I was having these babies or not. They were about 45 minutes apart now, so there was absolutely nothing we could do yet. I called Justin constantly, but no answer. I just gave up and so did Pattie, because I might not go into labor for another day or so. He could be home before I did either way.
“Alright, is there anything I can get you?” Pattie asked.
“Just water’s fine. Can you pack a bag for the hospital just in case? Just my slippers and night gown and stuff.”
“Sure honey. I’ll be right back, just yell if anything new.”
I nodded and leaned forward a bit. Another contraction. Ugh, this sucked; I didn’t think it’d feel like this! It felt like period cramps, which I hadn’t felt in nine months. Pattie came back with my water before heading upstairs to pack a bag. I grabbed my phone from the table and dialed Justin’s number again. It rang a few times and I was praying that he’d answer.
“This is Justin, leave a voicemail and I’ll get back to you.”
Great, voicemail again. I guess it didn’t matter that much unless I was having these babies tonight; which no one knew yet. I set my phone back down and leaned back, trying to ease the pain somewhat. I started feeling less pain, but instead of pain, I felt wetness. Great, my water broke.
“Pattie!” I yelled.
“Yes!?” she yelled back as she came running down the stairs.
“We’re having these babies tonight.”

(Justin’s POV)

“’Cause everything’s gonna be alright, ight.”
I finished the song and opened my eyes to see the huge crowd. This was my second to last concert before I got to see my beautiful fiancĂ©e again. God, I missed her so much, and it’d only been a month. Besides her, everything on my tour was going great. Believe it or not, this tour was bigger than the last. It was amazing to see all the support from my fans still over the past years.
“Alright guys, now this next song means a lot to me, and I hope it does to you to.” I said.
I backed up and turned to find a stool next to Dan waiting for me. I sat down next to him and picked up my guitar. Tonight felt special to me, so I decided to do and acoustic version of Fall. We both began strumming but before I could sing, the music stopped and Scooter ran out on stage. I turned in my seat to look at him, he looked worried.
“Sorry to interrupt, but Justin,” he came closer to me and whispered in my ear, “(YN)’s going in to labor, right now.”
I backed away from Scooter and stood up. The smile on my face was huge, and I couldn’t believe it. I could barely move; I had no idea what to do now. I turned towards the crowd and threw my hands up in the air.
“I need to get to the hospital!” I yelled.
I took the microphone and all the chords off of my body and put them in Scooter’s hands before running off of the stage and looking for anyone who could get me out of here and to the airport. I found Kenny and I grabbed him and stopped him.
“Will you drive me to the airport?” I said frantically.
“Dude, you’re in the middle of your concert-“
“(YN)’s in labor!”
“Oh- sorry- let’s go!”
He pulled me through the crowd and out of the backstage doors. Fans were crowding everywhere with their cameras and signs, but I just focused on getting to a car. We couldn’t take our tour bus, but luckily Kenny had a rental car.
We both got in and buckled up quickly before flying to the airport. I was way too excited and I could barely contain myself. Finally, after some time, I was sitting in our private jet all by myself. Kenny stayed behind, but I needed to get to the hospital. The anticipation was killing me as I sat impatiently.
When my flight landed, I left the plane quickly and ran as fast as I could through the airport. I had to dodge a lot of people, and the ones I ran into, I apologized quickly to them and kept running. I was surprised that I didn’t get stopped by security by the time I got out. I looked left and right and tried to get a taxi as fast as possible before the mob of girls behind me caught up. I slammed the taxi door behind me just as the girls got out of the airport. They banged on the windows as we drove off.
“Where to?” the taxi driver asked.
“The hospital.” I said quickly.
“Something wrong?” he asked.
“I’m having twins.” I said with a smile.
He drove right there and when we stopped; I had to fumble with my wallet to find money. I was getting impatient trying to find a few dollars. I didn’t usually keep money on me, only my credit card. This literally sucked the life out of me; my babies could be being born right now and I would be missing it.
“It’s on me sir. Go have you babies.” He said as he turned around with a smile.
“Thanks, really.” I said quickly.
I stepped out of the taxi and ran into the hospital. I looked left and right a few times, looking for the front desk. I ran right up to the lady and placed my hands on her desk.
“(YN) (YLN), where is she?!” I yelled.
“Come with me.”
She stood quickly, knowing that I was in an obvious hurry. She brought me right to her room within a few seconds and I ran right to (YN)’s side and held her hand. She hadn’t given birth yet, but I could tell that she wasn’t too happy.
“Are you okay?” I asked right away.
“Does it look like I’m okay?” she said as she winced in pain.
I smiled slightly because I knew that I was finally back by her side throughout all of this. The only difference was that she was squeezing my hand pretty hard, it actually kind of hurt.
“Here sir, put tis on.” The doctor told me.
He handed me scrubs and a mask and I quickly put it them on before being back by (YN)’s side. I was so excited, and she had actually calmed down enough to greet me.
“Alright guys, I think we’re ready to deliver this baby.” The doctor said.
I bit my lip; this was scary for me too! I mean I wasn’t the one in pain or anything, but I still was worried. She squeezed my hand harder as the doctor told her to push. It seemed like forever, but before we knew it, both of our babies were born. The doctor’s laid them on (YN)’s chest for a minute before taking them to get them all washed up. (YN) laid back and closed her eyes; she still looked like an angel.
“Baby, you did it.” I whispered.
She opened her weak eyes and looked up at me with a smile. I leaned over and kissed her cheek before finding a chair and sitting down by her side.
Soon, our babies were brought back in the room all wrapped up in blankets. I looked at them with a smile as I was handed one and (YN) the other. We still hadn’t picked out names yet, and I had some in mind now. I looked up at (YN) and parted my lips slowly.
“She looks like a Melody.” I whispered.
She looked at me and a smile formed on her lips. I knew that she liked the name, and even better, she came up with the other.
“She looks like a Lyric...” she whispered back.
“Lyric and Melody… The perfect names for two perfect girls.”
